Snooki Weight Loss – Why it’s Kind of Cool

For a long time I had no idea who Snooki was. I had heard of the popular MTV reality show Jersey Shore but had no interest in watching it. I watched an entire season of it which was enough to learn why the younger generation is probably so fascinated with this group of friends. If you are not familiar with the show, Snooki (Nicole Polizzi) is one of the more popular roommates and has recently been all over the news for her weight loss.


Why Snooki’s Weight Loss Sort of Matters

Jersey Shore has millions of viewers and Snooki herself has over 1 million followers on Twitter. I’m guessing that a huge portion of her followers are teenage girls. During her weight loss journey, she tweeted many posts on how she’s going about getting fit. Here are some examples:

Since many young people idolize her, it is refreshing that her status updates are displaying that she is obviously exercising and it may be safe to assume that she is eating properly as well.

Many young people struggle with weight issues and may often go about it the wrong way because of what they read in the media on how a celebrity has lost weight. Let’s not forget Beyonce’s liquid diet that was popular so many years ago. I’m sure tons of people tried that one with little to no results.

While you may be like me and not care what a celebrity does on a daily basis, I think Snooki’s weight loss may help many people realize that there are no shortcuts. Exercise and proper nutrition will always win out in the end.

  1. You’re right! It annoys me when celebrities and the media put so much stock that it’s all smoke and mirrors, but the fact is, they really put a lot of effort into looking like that. Those fit celebrities go to the gym, restrict their diet, and if all else fails, they are subject to the power of Photoshop.

  2. What an interesting post! I really love it because it can inspire people that them can also loss weight like what Snooki achieve. I can say losing pounds is not a tough project to work with as long as you have self discipline, perseverance and determination to attain your purpose.

  3. Well, if you ask me, Jersey Shore has a greater impact on this generations teens than their own parents. When parents are at work their kids are at home watching MTV, specifically Jersey Shore. I’m 43 and I have never seen so many teens greatly affected by a show consisting of a group of really tan jersey inhabitants. I guess watching someone get drunk and arrested is more entertainig then sitting down and reading a classical book about true love (Pride and Prejudice to be specific). Ahh well, I guess this snooki girl has a positive trait, she’s inspiring young teens to get up and exercise instead of slowly eating themselves into an early grave while watching Jersey shore… Well done..bravo..hurrah..

  4. Srs, you can’t say Snooki is an inspiration on weight loss, she can’t be an inspiration for anything…. hell, furthermore she is Chilean like me and everyone here are ashamed of her, even the teenagers!

  5. I call BS, you can’t drink like she does and loose weight. Alcohol thrashes the liver and you really need it (for many reasons) butweight managment is one of them.
