Can you obtain six pack abs fast? That depends on how hard you are willing to work. Many people want a nice flat stomach showing off their abs right before the start of summer. Six pack abs take time but is an achievable goal. There are many factors to think about before you begin your quest for rock hard abs.

Watch What You Eat
Just because you exercise diligently doesn't mean a thing if you're taking in high-calorie, fat filled foods. Your diet is so important and will literally halt your progress. You have to burn fat to make those abs show. The best place to start is by watching your caloric intake and eating healthy foods such as fruits, veggies, protein, etc. Primarily, you'll want to avoid the processed foods that contain all the unecessary junk your body doesn't need.

Don't Overwork Your Abs
I've heard people before make comments such as, "I do 300 crunches every day." Over working a muscle is not going to make a fast improvement. You abs work just like every other muscle in your body. They need exercise as well as proper rest. Recovery time is actually when your muscles grow so if you're working your abs every single day, they are not getting enough time to repair themselves. Not only that, but crunches are not the only method of working your abs. Working other major muscle groups also gives your abs a workout. Take things slow and focus more on isolating the muscles you are working on. Also, keep in mind the parts of the abs that need exercise. Upper ab workouts are great but your lower abs and obliques need a workout as well.

Remember What is More Important
While having a nice set of abs is great appearance wise, try to remember the overall benefit of abdominal exercises. You are also building a strong torso which will help with your posture, decrease back pain, and reduces the risk of injury. Having a strong core is essential in your overall fitness goals.

Try not to get frustrated while working towards your six pack. As we age it becomes more difficult to get in shape. Many of us have way more subcutaneous (occuring right below the skin) body fat than when we were much younger. You can reach your goal with discipline, proper nutrition, and training.

Great tips! I think many people overwork their abs, even though you can train your abs more than other muscles, people still get into the habit of doing 100′s of crunches. I have found kettlebells to be the best way of developing really strong abs.
