So, we already know that to get lean we need to burn a shed load of calories whilst not consuming too many, simple in theory right?
Here are some things to consider when your goal is to burn maximum calories for a leaner, more athletic physique…
Note: Most of these ‘traps’ are often fallen into through the desire to achieve great results. Thats right, its often the serious gym goer making these errors. Because of the fact that these guys, just as you are, have a great will and determination to succeed, you can overlook what is actually the best route to take.
Exercise type – I’ve often said that exercises are like medicines. What is right for one person and their goals, can be completely wrong, detrimental, even dangerous to another.
This is one of the main dangers of copying what other guys do or say in the gym. You have to question where they got there information from, and if its relevant to you and your goals?
How many exercises? – The more time you spend in the gym, the more exercises you will see and learn. All too often i’ve seen guys simply add these into their plan without subbing out similar movements. The result is some sort of marathon weights session. A big problem now is that a decent intensity will almost certainly be lost because of sheer volume and fatigue.
Going through the motions is a dangerous but all too common behavior exercised (excuse the pun) in the gym.
How about sets, reps, and rest periods? – This works the same as exercise type. These three variables can be manipulated massively, so much so that the same set of exercises with altered sets, reps, and rest can feel and result in a completely different workout, with completely different outcomes.
Weights or cardio? – Which is best for burning calories? The answer is that they both burn calories (we know that), but getting them right to burn maximum amounts is the key.
Would you spend hours and hours per week on a treadmill or exercise bike if you knew it wasn’t actually the best use of your time?
Structure of workout – This is another vital component when it comes to maximizing the effects of exercises. The order and structure of exercises are vitally important to burning more calories.
How often? – Did you know that if you trained every day, the results can get less and less. There is also a big increase in your chance of injury.
Putting it all together…
The trick now is to work out how to tick all these boxes …and this is where it can get tricky. You need to create a plan of attack ensuring you are getting maximum results in minimum time. On top of wasting time, wasting effort and energy is another thing you don’t want to be doing.
This not only takes expertise, but it takes experience, and it takes years of working with hundreds of guys to achieve their physique goals.
Well its your lucky day …i’ve done the work for you …The Metabolic Rate Acceleration Programme not only ticks the boxes needed for the workout for a leaner, more athletic physique, but also gives you the nutritional principles to match.
