When you read the words “Naked Fitness,” you probably are really curious as to what type of workout program this is. Fear not, this book has nothing to do with working out naked. It is about removing the obstacles and excuses that often stop us from exercising and eating healthy in the first place. This book is a full-on plan that guides you in removing the stumbling blocks we all deal with from emotional issues to time constraints.
About the Author
Naked Fitness was written by fitness and nutrition expert, Andrea Metcalf. Andrea has been training and coaching clients in nutrition and health for 27 years. She is also a regular contributor to More and Self magazines as well as a regular blogger on Oprah.com. Television appearances include Today, Good Morning America Health, and nationally syndicated show Better TV.
Equipment Needed, Types of Exercises, and Nutrition
The great thing about the Naked Fitness program is that it doesn’t require much in terms of equipment. All that is required are:
- Exercise mat
- Resistance tubing (elastic exercise band)
- Dumbbells (3 to 8 pounds)
- Stability ball
The exercises in this program focus on strength and toning as well as functional fitness. The routines incorporate gentle movements so it is great for those who use exercise as a peaceful/spiritual practice (such as with yoga.) All movements include instructions as well as photos.
Andrea also does a great job of focusing on nutrition. She includes meal plans, a food guide, recipes, and tackles the topic of overeating. This is especially important as no matter the type of exercise we do, if we eat poorly, it will show.
Who this Book is For
This program may not be for those who are into extreme workouts or are focused on weight lifting. If you have been working out for some time, chances are you may not find any new information here. However, if you’re struggling with getting off the couch, eating better, and are looking for an easy-to-get-started workout program, you will enjoy Naked Fitness.
