Joining a gym is easy, they are there, waiting to help you sign up for a monthly fee, knowing that many will just sign up, and then never attend. So although the first decision is often said to be tricky, in the case of gyms, it is often the second stage that is the hardest- the doing. If regularly is difficult, why not try a day gym pass?
Signing up is one thing, making a regular and concerted effort to actually attend and make use of the gym that you have paid for is the main step. So good on you for signing up, but more importantly, turn up! Again, if the commitment is hard, why not try a cheap gym membership?
Picking the right gym is equally important, some gyms thrive on free weights and grunt, whereas others are almost offended if you sweat on their equipment – make sure that you have visited the gym before you sign up, so that you are not shocked by the realities.
Finally, make sure you use the gym, paying so much per month only loses the wrong sort of pounds. If you want to get in shape then you will have to go.
If you do not know what it is you want, it may be hard to achieve them, so make sure you have a target.
Don’t pick somewhere too out of the way, or else you may never make it: why not pick somewhere you can visit at lunch or on the way home. Remember your training is easier when it can be incorporated into your day, they aren’t going anywhere. So pick a convenient location for you.
- Gym Day Pass
Not sure if you can commit, why not try it day by day? You only pay when you train, no long term commitment, and until it is part of your routine, this may be ideal.
What’s the motivation? Unless you are motivated by your own goals, then you may struggle to continue with any routine. Feeling that you are doing it for others, may never be the same as doing it for you.
You are not alone – if you do not have a gym buddy, then classes will give you all the company you need.
- A Little Help
Again, help, well helps. A personal trainer will assist you in going the extra mile, and gyms are the best places to find one!
- Forget Pride
We all start somewhere, just never forget that everyone else in the room walked through the door for the first time too. You will soon be looking at the next newbie, so be nice.
- Find your Place
Try something new, in fact, try everything, and by doing this you will find something that will suit you best. Approach it like you have no clue, and have an open mind. Only through trial and error will you benefit the most.
If you truly want to see the gains then you are going to have to do the work. But if you see it as work, then you might as well never start. Enjoy the graft and you will enjoy the rewards, and the gym will be both fun and rewarding.
