What they don’t realize is that lifting weights and stimulating muscle is one of the most beneficial techniques for fat loss. Not only does building and maintaining muscle mass allow your body to burn more calories naturally, it also increases the release of anabolic hormones that are crucial for fat loss and muscle preservation.
Have you ever seen a super buff guy who’s ridiculously ripped yet he gobbles down whole pizza pies and ice-cream regularly? I know more than a few of these guys personally.
6 pack Secret #2 – Increase your carbohydrate intake
Another mistake made by those when trying to burn fat is, they assume they MUST cut their carbs…sometimes even completely. Not only does this not work for more than a couple of days, but IF you are successful with this technique, I can almost guarantee you will gain all of your weight back. In most cases, people will actually end up gaining more weight than they lost. Not to mention, lifting weights or performing any high intensity training without fuel in the gas tank will create a catabolic environment that we want no part of.
What I recommend:
Carbohydrates should make up about 40% of your macronutrient consumption.
Consume your daily carbohydrate intake surrounding your workout and avoid damaging your metabolism by suppressing your leptin levels, while still having enough fuel in the gas tank to train optimally.
