I never gave much thought to drinking coconut water. When a ZICO (pronounced “Zee-Koh”) representative contacted me about sampling their product, I was more than willing to try it. I was surprised at how many flavors were available. The ZICO flavors include:
- Lima Citron
- Passion Fruit
So far I’ve tried natural, chocolate, mango, and lima citron. My two favorites so far are natural and chocolate (surprise, surprise :)). I’m not big on drinking beverages as most are full of sugar. ZICO, however, contains no added sugar.
So What’s the Big Deal About Coconut Water?
Coconut water in general is a healthy drink. It contains potassium (ZICO contains more potassium than a banana and has 15 times more than most sports drinks.) As a sports drink, it rehydrates faster than water and is lower in acidity than sports drinks/juices. Also, because of the potassium, you’ll be helping to stop and prevent muscle cramps. Potassium is definitely something I’m going to increase after the hellacious leg cramp I had a few days ago.

I really enjoy ZICO and have become a new fan of coconut water. I don’t think I care for the various flavors all that much. I’ll probably be sticking to natural and chocolate.
