Work Out: Jackie and Trainers On Retreat
Since I’m already hooked on the new show Work Out on Bravo I figured I may as well give my opinion on each of the episodes I watch. Last night was episode two and it focused on a trainer’s retreat where Jackie put them through boot camp style training to assess their fitness levels, share her expertise, and bond with them. I’m not sure where exactly they stayed but it was probably a couple hours away because they were all in one van and when they finally arrived at their destination it seemed to be a very nice and quiet area.
It was cool how the trainers went through the session. They looked completely exhausted afterwards. I definitely would enjoy a class like that. Besides the fitness portion, this episode also focused on the relationships between each of the trainers and with Jackie and her girlfriend. There is a lot of drama going on which is part of what I love about the show. I do wonder how much of it is scripted though. I’ve heard before that most reality tv shows are somewhat scripted. Either way, Jackie’s girlfriend is a little out there. Her jealousy, tendency to bite, and her temper would be enough to send someone running for the hills. I suppose the editors do this on purpose by displaying a one sided view of each person’s personality.
The trainers had their own drama with the “new guy” Jesse. Brian was not fond of him at all and the episode made Jesse appear to be somewhat immature. They also pointed out the fact that he was already favored by Jackie. In the end, they all got over their awkwardness towards each other and seemed to accept Jesse into their family.
I am looking forward to the next episode where Jackie takes on a client who is considering gastric bypass surgery. That is the kind of stuff I like to see in the show. I like to watch how the trainers can take someone in need of help and turn their lives around for the better.
