Thinking of starting up on another weight loss diet plan? Before you dive right into the latest and greatest program that you find on the market, you might want to give this some serious thought.
The overall structure of your weight loss diet plan is going to have a strong influence on the results you will see.
Let’s face it, you have some good, well thought out diet plans out there and you have some that, well, aren’t so great.
Unless you’re somewhat choosey in the type of diet plan you want to opt for, you simply cannot expect to see the level of success that you’re after.
Carb cycling is one of the most effective ways to go about any diet plan so if you’re going to begin somewhere, I’d highly recommend starting here.
Let’s have a quick peak at why carb cycling proves to be so effective.
It Provides Psychological Relief
The very first reason why carb cycling is a very effective way to promote faster fat loss is because it’s going to provide you with some clear psychological relief.
Let’s face it, cutting out some of your favourite foods from your diet is hard work.
Do this often enough for a long period of time and cravings are going to be intense – so intense in fact that you might just not be able to say no.
Using the carb cycling approach you’ll be able to add some carbs back into your diet again, relieving yourself of some of those food cravings.
It Enhances Your Energy Level
The second reason why carb cycling is top notch for fat loss is because it’ll help enhance your energy level. If you’ve ever been on a very low carb diet before while trying to sustain intense physical activity, you likely know how much of a drain this can be.
About a week or two into the program, your intensity plummets.
Carb cycling will reverse this. By adding some carbs back into the diet plan, you can help avoid this energy slump during your workouts and get more from each session that you perform.
It Tricks Your Metabolism
The third reason why carb cycling is such a great idea for those seeking fast fat loss results is because it’s going to help trick your metabolism as well. Carb cycling will signal to your body that it isn’t on this intense diet it thought it was and that will help it elevate its metabolic rate and burn calories faster again.
Your metabolic rate is a big determinant of how many calories you burn daily and is something that will play a major role in the rate of success you see.
Carbs will help boost the metabolism, moving you to success faster.
It's Easier to Follow
Finally, last but not least, carb cycling diets are easier to follow. When you know you have a higher carb day right around the corner, you’ll find it that much easier to stick with the low carb days in between.
Adherence is one of the most critical elements of weight loss success, so this itself is something not to be overlooked.
So there you have the top things to note about why you should choose a carb cycling plan. If you're on a hunt for an effective diet strategy, make sure you don’t overlook this.

Managing your carbohydrate intake is the secret to successful weight management. Why it is a secret I don’t know. People in the US get it but over here in the UK people are still hung up on fat intake. Give us time!
I completely agree with Nick that carb cycling is a great way to reduce your carb intake, without having to go completely cold turkey.
Carb cycling can definitely be effective, but in the long run as a lifestyle change I find it unsustainable. Consistency is key, is what I tell most of my personal training clients here in Northern Virginia when they ask about low carb dieting. I explain the effects in the short term, but it’s obvious that it’s no way to live your whole life. I find it more useful for clients trying to jump start some weight loss, than to have a long term focus on carbohydrate cycling!
I have not heard of carb cycling before so I am going to give it a try. I know that removing carbs from the diet completely only has a limited effect not to mention the diet is boring.
Carb cycling definitely works, within Australia our traditional diets are too carb based. We need to change the mindset of a generation. Low carb diets are great for leaning out but they are not sustainable long term, the concept of carb cycling is a great one. Well explained in this article.
I’ve been doing carb cycling for a while now. Since I don’t count calories, I find it very draining and miserable, carb cycling is perfect. I am not really a big bread, pasta or rice person anyway, so when I do place carbs back into my diet it is usually unrefined grains such as buckwheat or old fashioned oatmeal. I think it is the best method for weight loss.
Carb cycling is one of the most effective ways to go about any diet plan and loose weight. And it’s one of my personal favorite methods as well.
Carb cycling is great… however its also important to increase your output and decrease your input to loss that unwanted weight. This is a fantastic blog…. im starting up my own health and fitness website and would love to post this on as a blog at http://www.slimline.me/
thanks Ryan
I am not familiar with carb cycling. Going to do some research and perhaps give it a try myself.
OK, this is news to me! wow:) i never heard of this carb cycling thing. I always thought that carbs make you fat! Great post
For the past 2 month, I started looking around the Internet for good information on nutrition, fitness and dieting programs and I found that this is one of the best blog I ever discovered…good information and great tips…..Thanks 4 sharing.
Any sample plans we can look at. Do you spike up clean carbs every 3 days or what approach do you suggest?
A refreshing post. So nice to see a plan that isn’t pushing people to buy the latest pill or powder. Nor are you telling people to go cold turkey on everything they crave. Nice approach. Thanks!
Although you need carbs for energy any you will see the flab fly off by not eating them. your best bet is to just cut them down by 75%
Ever since I started eating the majority of my daily carbs immediately pre and post-workout, it’s become a LOT easier to keep my body-fat levels low
How often do you cycle? Every meal or every month?
Looks like the author has just dreamt up this idea and thought about writing an article. It does not provide any detail or proof or any research.
Just another person with an idea to fix a problem.
All my favorite foods have carb in it so I might give this one a try, thank you
Not only carb cycling but working out is very important to getting the body of your dreams. Currently my clients use the Repetitive Seven Day Program where they workout daily but workouts or short and intensive.
GET FIT WITH PASSION
I have been on the carb cycling diet plan for 3 months now. I am sold on this plan. I have a 14.9% bodyfat. I am a 49 year old female. I weigh 115 and I am 5’1″…I have never felt better. Of course, I workout 6 days a week. Off on Sunday..
I think carb cycling is great. It’s what I teach my patients to do and we’ve had some amazing results!
