I am one who believes in natural foods as a source of your body's nutrional needs. I used to take vitamins on a daily basis but once I started incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet, I began to wonder if taking vitamins were really that much more beneficial.
I don't think it hurts to take supplements and for some people, it may be a necessity. I have read that your body absorbs vitamins and minerals from food more effectively than from pills, which makes sense. Depending on the type of diet you have probably determines whether or not you need to add supplements. Vegetarians (depending on the type) probably have to be more concerned about iron, protein, and Vitamin B, since these are commonly found in meat. If it is too much to worry over, a supplement may be what a person needs to meet their daily values.
