The Weight Loss Patch Dubbed “Chelsea”

I was scanning the recent health news headlines this morning when I came across the news of a investigation of a weight loss patch sold in China with claims that it helped Chelsea Clinton lose 26.5 pound in a month. It seems the makers of this patch advertised the product as such and made millions. The most this patch seemed to do was leak oil:

Customers are instructed to stick the patch to the area of the body where they want to lose weight and then just wait for the fat to flow out of them, the Beijing Morning Post said, citing an investigation by China Cental Television.

But in fact the oil seeped from the patch itself, which could be seen when it was put on a warmed up cup or a television set, the report said. [Source: Yahoo! News]

What I find most humorous about the patch is that you’re supposed to stick it on the area where you want to lose weight!  Oh yes, I can picture people with patches plastered over their belly’s and thighs!  There is no magic in pills, liquid, or patch form. Weight loss is about a healthy lifestyle which includes proper nutrition and exercise.
