I love animals and why I don't own a dog, we do somewhat own a cat. To make a long story short, our neighbors have an outdoor cat and he comes over to visit and hangs out with us. Back to the point - dogs make wonderful companions and they can especially make great workout partners if you have one that loves to run.
If you are currently considering adopting a dog as a companion and workout partner, you may want to consider some of the following breeds. From what I could find online, these breeds make great running companions which will do your body good as well as creating a lot of fun for the dog.
Dog Breeds that Make Great Running Companions
- Labrador Retriever
- Australian Shepherd
- Border Collie
- Vizsla
- German Shepherd
- Doberman Pinscher
- Rhodesian Ridgeback
- Dalmation
Do you have a dog that loves to run? What type of dog do you have?

I have a standard poodle. He’s a fantastic running companion. He’s been known to run 16 mile runs and is a fast learner when it comes to commands during the run.
