Study Shows Obese Women Should Exercise Not Diet

While eating properly is always a good rule of thumb for maintaining a healthy weight, a new study reveals that obese women should focus on exercise more so than dieting. The study included 62 women ages 24 to 55 with a BMI over 30kg which is classified as clinically obese.
The program consisted of an exercise program requiring 4 hours a week of physical activity, educational sessions teaching the women how to read food labels and cook food, and behavioral therapy to teach them how to recognize hunger and feeling full.

But, despite only a small amount of weight loss, the women in the programme ended up significantly fitter.
Blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol fell and respiratory fitness increased.
Women also felt better in terms of general well-being, body image, self-perception and stress.
This is great news and proves that taking action by performing some type of physical fitness can show significant improvements in your health and overall well being.
