Speeding Up on the Treadmill

Today I felt a little more motivated than usual for a Monday.  I got to the gym around lunch time and took my place on a treadmill.  I decided to start my pace off at 6.0 rather than my usual 5.6.  A 6.0 on the treadmill was equivalent to a 10 minute pace.  I ran for as long as I could before I was exhausted and made it to 2 miles.

After that I slowed back down to 5.4 and then finally to 3.7 and walked for another half a mile.  I am slowly trying to increase my speed on the treadmill so that when I run on the streets, I can keep up a good pace.  Not only that, but when I run the same pace too often on the treadmill, I don't feel like I always get in a good workout.  I think I will keep up the new pace for this week.
