Quit Smoking With Hypnosis
Yesterday I had a conversation with my cousin who is trying to quit smoking. She has been a smoker off and on for about 15 years. She knows it is time to quit and her children remind her often to break the habit. I asked her several questions and here is a quick rundown of her smoking habit:
1. She takes smoke breaks with another co-worker each day
2. During smoke breaks she will smoke at least 2 cigarettes
3. She smokes at home after the kids have settled down
This may sound familiar to you if you are also a smoker. We talked about methods of trying to quit from patches, gums, to prescription medicine. She has already stated that she would find it difficult to quit cold turkey. Since natural methods of quitting smoking is preferable, I suggested quitting smoking with hypnosis. From what I’ve read, it seems that hypnotherapy basically helps to change the way you think and feel about smoking. Since most habits, good or bad, are based on how we base our thoughts (our beliefs) on them, hypnosis can be a good option for those who want to quit smoking naturally.
If you need some motivation to quit smoking, just look at the benefits of quitting over time:
20 minutes after quitting: Your heart rate and blood pressure drops.
12 hours after quitting: The carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal.
2 weeks to 3 months after quitting: Your circulation improves and your lung function increases.
1 to 9 months after quitting: Coughing and shortness of breath decrease; cilia (tiny hair-like structures that move mucus out of the lungs) regain normal function in the lungs, increasing the ability to handle mucus, clean the lungs, and reduce the risk of infection.
1 year after quitting: The excess risk of coronary heart disease is half that of a smoker’s.
5 years after quitting: Your stroke risk is reduced to that of a nonsmoker 5 to 15 years after quitting.
10 years after quitting: The lung cancer death rate is about half that of a continuing smoker’s. The risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, cervix, and pancreas decrease.
15 years after quitting: The risk of coronary heart disease is that of a nonsmoker’s.
