Mike Flynt - 59 Year Old Makes Football Comeback

Mike Flynt is a 59 year old strength and conditioning coach at Nebraska, Oregon and Texas A&M. One of his regrets in life was being kicked off a college football team before his senior year. Mike decided to try out for the team (amazingly enough he was still eligible) and has now made the Division III team’s roster for Sul Ross State University.
While many people warn him of his age and the dangers of playing football, Mike Flynt is in excellent condition for his age. Here is what he says about being in shape:
“People have asked me, ‘Mike, what is the fountain of youth?’ Well, it’s strength training that builds muscle, increases bone density and burns calories,” he said. “It’s the one thing you can do in your 90s and benefit from.”
I am not surprised that strength training is the reason for his being in great physical condition at 59 years old. My stepdad is his age and has strength trained since his early 20’s. Mike is going to go down in history for sure. He is a definite fitness role model for all ages.

Great story and this guy is a role model for older people.
I had a buddy when I was 18 that was very strong and he would arm wrestle or wrestle older guys for fun. When he lost he would chalk it up to the man having “old man strength”, haha.
Age doesn’t matter as long as you are active and keep your body tuned.
