Making Better Decisions When Dining Out

I am still weak in the area of dining out. I have trouble deciding on the things I should be eating and the junk I was so used to eating. For example, tonight my family wanted to dine at a local family restaurant by our house. Everything on the menu was pretty bad and the things that were relatively healthy were not appetizing. I opted for a breakfast meal since they serve it all day and got 2 pancakes, scrambled eggs, 2 sausage links, and 2 strips of bacon.

I ate one pancake, barely touched the eggs, and ate all of the breakfast meats. I was completely wrong for doing so but I made a bad choice and will pay for it tomorrow on the treadmill. My family dined on baby back ribs and fried chicken. Talk about jealous! It is hard dining out that is for sure.

I think in my case my best bet will be better educating myself on better alternatives. Looking back now, I could have opted for a salad even if it was tasteless. Or maybe instead of eating all of the breakfast meats, I could've had 1 sausage, etc. Portion control and wiser decisions is what it takes for dining out. The tempation is much too great not to have will power in those situations.

I usually try to avoid eating out in many cases for the simple fact that meals are usually high in fat, calories, and cholesterol. Cooking meals saves me in those areas and I don't tend to overeat when I cook at home. Now that I've learned the error of my ways, my next dining experience will consist of better choices.
