Another way you can get a free gym membership is to cross promote your business with the gym. In other words, if you work at a restaurant, and offer to carry some of the gym's literature or flyers at your venue, gyms often reciprocate by allowing you to work out for free. Everyone likes to have free advertising. I've found this to be especially true if you work as a bartender at hotel. A lot of times men and women will come in from out of town and ask where a good place to work out is. If you have the gym's info on you, they are likely to go. The gym lets you work out for free, while at the same time, you are providing them with new business.

Great Idea! I currently am a student so I get free gym access at my student rec center, but once I finish with my classes, I'm definitely going to try to find a part-time gym position in order to score a free membership.

Yep, given the financial rut most of us find ourselves in these days, there could be no better gym that allows us to save money than at home. I used to be enrolled in a gym, but after wasting an entire month's membership(which they refused to refund) due to hectic schedule at work, I decided to look for other alternatives. And though I've considered your other options, I find home gyms most conducive and accomodating to my busy schedule and lifestyle.

Another option might be working out at home. There are some great programs out there on dvd and via the internet. People always think they need to join a gym. Based on experience, alot of people come for 1 or two months then end up stopping and giving there money away free to the gym they joined. If the gym is your thing thats fine but realize other options exist.

It's easier to get trial memberships for MMA and boxing gyms these days although they are far more expensive in terms of fees than ordinary gyms and there's not as much leeway on when it's beneficial to go.

But, in general the more specialized your routine the harder it is to work out for free.

Trial offers are great. They give you an opportunity to explore new environments to train in; consequently, you can avoid those plateaus that slow your progress down. In addition, if you live within 10 minutes of a beach or high school, you can always do a nice sprint workout: http://www.examiner.com/x-16601-LA-Fitness-Trends-Examiner~y2009m7d20-Sprinting-an-effective-and-efficient-way-to-build-muscle-and-lose-fat
Remember, progress slows when your muscles get used to doing the same thing over and over. On the other hand, your muscles respond to a form of shock training - either a new environment to train such as a boxing gym, track, beach, wresting, basketball, swimming. That will keep you fit and feeling good.

Gym memberships can be very expensive these days. I think that the best free gym membership is the one right at your home gym because it never closes! Their are no strings attached.
