How I Started To Like Exercising

by Eartha

For a long time, I was not into fitness. I wouldn't exercise for any reason and the more my mom told me to exercise, the more I didn't want to do it. After awhile, I became fed up with the extra weight I was carrying around and decided to join a gym. Upon my excitement of joining a gym, I would go everyday, sometimes twice a day. People told me to slow down or I would quickly burn out. Surprisingly enough, I didn't burn out and ended up liking to exercise. Now I feel guilty when I don't work out. Looking back, here are some tips that may work for someone else who wants to change their outlook on exercise.

Try Different Exercises
Start off slow and try different activities. Eventually you will find something that sticks. For me, I ended up enjoying running. But some people are completely happy with a brisk walk or a light jog. There are classes to try such as aerobics or yoga. If you are on a budget, buying an exercise video works well too. I recommend Gilad: Ultimate Body Sulpt - he rocks!

Create A Fitness Schedule
We are all busy people but fitting in exercise doesn't have to be difficult. If you are a morning person, wake up a little earlier. If you are a night owl, pick a good time in the evening. All you need is at least 30 minutes to 1 hour for a good workout. I allow myself at least an hour. Get into a good routine and you won't make excuses for not fitting in exercise.

Get Better with Time
As you exercise more, you'll more than likely increase your intensity as well. When I began running 3 miles, I became addicted to the endorphins. I feel great after a good run. I am full of energy and I sleep much better at night as well. I think the feeling afterwards is a big reason why I like to exercise now. You will definitely discover that exercise high as well.

Try a few different activities and see what suits you best. Stick to a schedule and eventually you may begin to actually enjoy exercising which is definitely a good thing.
