Great Holiday Fitness Gifts

Since it’s that time of year for holiday shopping, I wanted to put together a list of cool fitness gifts that I find interesting. I think the following would make great gifts for anyone already in shape or wanting to get into shape. They are in no particular order.

Apple iPod
This without a doubt is probably one of the top gifts that will be given this year. It is rare that I don’t walk into the gym and see people with some model of the iPod attached to them. I personally cannot workout out at the gym without it.

Hand Blender
These are great for whipping up a quick protein shake or fruit smoothie. What I like about hand blenders is the convenience so you can take them to work or on vacation and mix your protein shakes wherever you are.

Fitness Magazines
Magazine subscriptions are great stocking stuffers and many of them provide a lot of good health info and new exercises to try out every month. My favorites include Runner’s World and Muscle & Fitness.

Body Fat and Muscle Mass Scales
I don’t know how these scales work but they are really cool in that they can calculate body fat percentage, muscle mass, and some do water weight as well. I’ve tried one out and wouldn’t mind having one myself.

Running Shoes
These are on my holiday wish list and I’m hoping someone I’ve dropped hints to will get me a new pair. I favor Nike but any brand will do. A good pair of running shoes can help get anyone in the mood to exercise.

Heart Rate/Trainer Watch
While this type of watch isn’t something I would buy myself, I wouldn’t turn it down as a present. It’s a neat gift for runners that try to improve their time or those who monitor their heart rate during cardio workouts.

Gift Cards, Gym Memberships, Personal Trainers
A gift card to GNC or other vitamin/supplement store make great presents. Also gift cards to sporting good stores are nice. If you have the budget and know that it won’t be wasted, a gym membership would be an awesome gift or even paying for a few personal training sessions.
