Back pain is a common issue for so many people. I have many family members who are dealing with or have dealt with back pain issues. Inversion therapy is one way that many people use to deal with their pain. Although inversion therapy is most commonly used for back pain, there are also other benefits for using a gravity inversion table.
What is Inversion Therapy?
Inversion therapy involves hanging upside down or at an inverted angle for therapeutic benefits. The idea is that hanging upside down may relieve pressure on the spine. Although most inversion therapy is geared toward back pain, there are other reasons to consider it as well.
- Cardiovascular benefits - Inversion can help stimulate circulation.
- Core strength - Can help develop core muscles without the risk of hyperextension or loading the spine.
- Reducing muscle pain - Inversion can help clear the lymphatic system which helps relieve aches and pains faster.
- Stress relief - Stress can cause back pain, neck pain, headaches, and muscle tension. Inversion can provide rejuvenation to help reduce pain and tension.
- Depression - Many people who originally purchased a gravity inversion table for pain continue use due to feeling an improved outlook on life.
What are the Risks?
Even though there are some benefits to inversion therapy, it still comes with some risks. People who have heart disease, high blood pressure, eye diseases (such as glaucoma), or are pregnant are at a higher risk. If you are considering it for yourself, you should consult with your doctor first and definitely have someone with you when starting out in case of being unable to release yourself from the gravity inversion table.
Have you ever tried inversion therapy?

I remember for a lot of years there were different kinds of apparatus that would allow you to hang from the doorway upside down to work abs and stuff. This rocker type thing seems like a great new and less dangerous option.
I have a wife with a bad back and I can vouch for how difficult is can be to do any weight bearing exercises because of this.
Hanging upside down definitely helps, I recently wrote a post about one of these inversion tables as well. I’m not sure it can necessarily cure back pain or make you stress free, but it for sure can help.
There are many Yogic philosophies that advocate for inversions. Depending on the philosophy, the benefits are tremendous!
This is great stuff. It may not cure back pain I dont know what will but it will surely help ease and keep it under control.
Inversion tables are great but I’ve only had the chance to try it out just once.
I love the picture you included, looks intense!
I had no idea about Inversion Therapy till now, thanks for the information

This looks great. I have been doing yoga once a week for about a year and I definitely feel the benefits of it, but I like mixing things up so I’ll have to try this. Arching your back over a swiss ball after a workout or to relieve stress works as well.
I used inversion boots many years ago – they are great for back issues IMHO. I’d like to give the table a try – looks a lot easier than what i tried.
I am considering giving yoga a try but I don’t think I would be able to do that.It looks so impossible to do but it looks amazing
This is as good as Yoga – Shirshasan. It should only be done under experts guidance.
