Fitness Myths – Wrapping an Injury Makes it Safe to Exercise

by Eartha

After experiencing an injury such as a sprain, tear, or strain, your doctor may advise that you keep the injury wrapped.  This does not give you the green light to continue exercising with the injury.  Wrapping an injury helps to support the area to prevent further damage.

Exercising on an injury, no matter how minor you think it is, can cause more damage than what you started out with.  That is because your range of motion may be limited, causing an increased chance of making the injury worse.  The best thing you can do is follow your doctor's advice and let yourself heal.
