Ruben Studdard of American Idol fame has made headlines recently for dropping 70 lbs after switching to a vegetarian diet. That is not surprising as vegetarian diets are low-fat and low-calorie.
I have dabbled with becoming a vegetarian several times but have never stuck with it long enough to make it a lifestyle change. It is kind of hard when you are surrounded by meat eaters and you are trying to cut meat out of your diet.
I do believe if people incorporated much more veggies and fruit rather than meat in their diets, obesity would definitely decline. I’m going to try and eat less meat in the coming months. Here is a link to a vegetarian starter kit that will help answer some questions if you’re thinking about switching to a vegetarian diet: www.govegetarian.org.
