I've always thought that regular exercise promotes faster healing. It just makes sense since it boosts the immune system. According to the following article, a test was conducted in which participants who led sedentary lifestyles, had small puncture wounds inflicted on themselves. After a three month exercise program (three times a week for one hour) the wounds healed faster in those who exercised compared to the non-exercisers.
Wounds healed in an average of 29 days in the exercisers, compared with 39 days in the nonexercisers. Theory: Exercise increases circulation and helps regulate the immune system and hormones that promote healing.
