Great way to work the triceps! I also like the fists together version. Even a bit more tricep action.

Another OVERLOOKED advantage to pushup variations is that they build SCAPULAR STABILITY.

Think this isn't important?

Well it's the true cause of most rotator-cuff problems, as well as other back and shoulder injuries.

Some pushup variations worth trying:

Scapulae pushups
Stability ball pushups
Explosive pushups with isometric pause (explode off the ground with your pushup, then as you are coming down pause with your elbows bent for 5 seconds)
Weight pushups

Take care!

Great video about diamond push ups. I love doing diamond push ups. It's a great triceps mass builder which you can do without equipment. Good body weight exercise. Also works the inner chest. Do like 3 sets of 10 repeats and your triceps will already be pumped up. To make the exercise even more difficult, try putting your feet in an elevated position like on a chair, so your body will be declined. Or another technique is to use a bag pack on your back and load it with heavy books. The triceps accounts for 60% of upper arm muscles and 40% goes for biceps, so if you can get your triceps really worked out with the diamond push ups, you can get a good growth in your arms with time and patience.

The push-up and all if the variations of the standard are often over look when developing a program. Too often the hips are allowed to sag or the head touches the floor instead of the chest. Can we get back to doing push-ups as a "must do" for chest, tricep, and anterior shoulder training? Get off the bench press for goodness sake and try finger push-ups, or normal push-ups where you have to touch your elbows and get back up without your torso touching the ground and a strong core. The bench press can't give you that versatility.

Gotta agree. This type of pushup can be a great test of strength or strength developer.

Another 'push-up' I like that really works out the triceps is quick cobras. This yoga pose, done quickly for about a minute or two is great for arms, chest, and flexibility in the lower back and abs.
