I found the following article refreshing considering that the average worker barely has time in the workday to take a break, let alone the energy to workout after a long day on the job. Several companies have been implementing fitness into the workday or providing ways to encourage it. Check out the following examples:
- L.L. Bean shuts down its manufacturing line 3 times a day for mandatory stretching
- Replacement Ltd. has developed a walking program organized by the company nurse
- American Apparel has 80 loaner bikes, locks, and helmets for their employees
- The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. increased the prices on fatty foods and uses the extra money for healthier sandwiches, fruit, and salads
Those are all awesome examples that most companies can follow. I think the loaner bikes is a really cool idea as well as the price increase on fatty foods.
