Cholesterol Testing at Home

High cholesterol runs in my family so it is important for my family and I to have our cholesterol checked. Now a days, testing your cholesterol can be done at home using some of the test kits available at the local pharmacy or online. A friend of mine purchased a test kit and was happy with the process.
The only problem for me is that you have to prick your finger (or have someone prick it for you) using the sterilized needle pricker the kit comes with. I can’t stand having my finger pricked. I much rather have blood drawn. I know that probably seems weird since giving blood takes slightly longer and more of a hassle.
Advantages of a Cholesterol Testing Kit
- Inexpensive
- Saves money on doctor visit
- Easy to use
- Only requires a drop of blood
- You get results in minutes
These kits are convenient if you don’t mind the finger pricking. They are a good way to monitor your cholesterol. If you are on the high end of the scale, you can get to a doctor right away to find out what you can do to start lowering your cholesterol.
