I own a jump rope but I don't use it as much as I could. I used it about two weeks ago when I started my Turbulence Training program. Jumping rope is fun and it is a good workout. A recent New York Times article highlights jump rope fitness classes that are available around the city. Edward Jackowski is the owner of Exude Fitness and author of Jump Into Fitness. There are several advantages to jumping rope. One of my favorites is getting a good workout in less time.

Who says fitness equipment has to be expensive? Well, if you're looking to add some challenge to your workouts, you may be interested in creating your own slosh pipe. Slosh pipe training is new to me and I learned about it after flipping through a fitness magazine. It is simply a piece of PVC pipe (6 to 10 feet long, 3 to 4 inches in diameter) and two end caps. You glue one end cap to the end of the pipe, fill the pipe halfway with water, and glue on the other end.

I'm not always the most up to date when it comes to smart phone applications or the latest and greatest technology, so if you're already using RunKeeper, this post won't be anything new to you. I have always liked to run and have recently started walking for at least 30 minutes a day. Being able to track your miles is nothing new and can be done with GPS gadgets such as watches or the Nike + iPod Sport Kit.

New Year's Resolution: 36/365

It's no secret that many new year fitness resolutions are abandoned around March or April (sometimes sooner.) While it is unfortunate that some people don't develop the fitness habit, it can be a blessing for those who are serious about fitness and need some gym equipment to get started.
