Blogroll

I was blog tagged recently by "Be Fit with Biray" and this tagging is actually kind of interesting.

The rules are as follow:

  1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
  2. Open the book to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the next three sentences (sentences 6-9).
  5. Tag five people.

The book has to be fitness related and tagging must include health & fitness bloggers. So here is my contribution:

But if you fall in the latter camp, you need to know that weights aren't just made for twenty-year old guys trying to impress the coeds. There are benefits to weight training—no matter your age or fitness level. For one, weight training adds to your body lean muscle mass, which, over time, consumes more calories than fat, and therefore helps keep your weight down. For another, it makes your muscles stronger and better equipped to go through the motions of life. In fact, increasing the strength of your lower back is the top way to avoid lower-back pain.

This excerpt comes from the book YOU: The Owner's Manual by Michael F. Roizen, M.D. and Mehmet C. Oz, M.D. This is a very good book for learning the basic ins and outs of your body.

I am tagging the following health & fitness bloggers if they haven't already been tagged:

John is Fit
The Fit Club
Workin' On My Fitness
Workout Mommy
World Fitness Network

Looking forward to reading your answers!

There are some great fitness blogs on the web and there are a few that I read daily. I need all the motivation I can get so it's great to read how other people deal with fitness on a regular basis. Many times, their posts are just the motivation I need to get me going. I also learn a lot from these blogs so definitely check them out:

Fitness Cure - I really enjoy this blog because it is so motivational. The author (Maria Kang) knows about the fitness industry and shares a lot of her experience.

Workin' On My Fitness - Just like the tag line "A chick wanting to be fit" is what this blog is about. Sue's posts are about her day to day challenges of getting fit. I think almost all of us can relate to that. She also posts a lot of helpful info too.

The Fit Club - I am learning a lot from this blog. Scott has some very helpful posts and I enjoy his "Best Diet Ever" posts.

Strong Lifts - This is quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs since I've never really done much strength training. Mehdi has great info for beginners as well as experienced strength trainers. You are sure to learn something new.

I will share more as I come across them. Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe!
