The Best Diet Plans for Weight Loss – So Many to Choose From

One of the main reasons for not losing weight, even if you're exercising regularly, is due to diet. Eating more calories than you burn leads to weight gain. Consistently eating a diet of junk can ruin any progress you hope to make with exercise.

Many people are after a good diet plan that will help them to begin eating healthier as well as losing weight. Below are methods of eating that I have come across. Some are very interesting and seem easy to follow. All may seem somewhat restrictive to a point but probably for good reason if your goal is to cut out junk and eat healthier.

1. Clean Eating - This is a popular method of eating and you can often find bodybuilders eating this way. When eating clean, you avoid processed foods and stick to food in its most natural state. Refined sugar is definitely a no-no and alcohol is limited or avoided all together. This method of eating also includes eating 5 - 6 small meals per day.

2. Paleolithic Diet - This diet plan, also referred to as the paleo diet or caveman diet, is a method of eating in which food is chosen based on an ancient diet of wild plants and animals that various human species habitually consumed during the Paleolithic—a period of about 2.5 million years duration that ended around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture. [Source: Wikipedia.org] This diet also avoids processed foods and focuses on meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, roots, and nuts; and excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils.

3. The Warrior Diet - This diet plan was created by Ori Hofmekler. It involves "undereating" during the day and "overeating" at night. Essentially you are fasting 16-18 hours a day and then eating as much as you want in one meal (of course following the Warrior Diet guidelines.)

4. The Spartan Diet - This one is fairly new to me. It is based on the original Mediterranean diet but is the superior version compared to the industrialized version of today. Learn more at the Spartan Diet blog.

Are you the type of person to follow a specific way of eating or do you just use common sense and eat healthy a majority of the time?

Whoa, you learn something new everyday. I didn’t know those diets like even existed. There are so many ways people can lose weight these days. This causes some people to never sit down and pick one and thats why they never lose weight.

Or even worse when someone goes on a diet… and then goes back to how they were eating before the diet! How dumb is that!

Don’t you hate when you hear something like that?

Great post Eartha!

Thanks David. Those are just a few I’ve come across the most. I’m sure there are hundreds of others.

I like the first 2 “diets” the best :D I typically just make health conscious choices when eating instead of following any rigid plan. Nice post!!
