In my effort to reduce meat consumption I've decided to become pescatarian (also spelled pescetarian) for 1 full week starting yesterday (Sunday.) If you aren't familiar with the term, it is a "type" of vegetarianism that abstains from all meat with the exception of fish. I chose this type because I love salmon and because I still want the health benefits of the Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish. I am also continuing to consume dairy products. I can't go cold turkey from all meat related items just yet.
This week is sort of a way to ween myself off of my meat eating ways. My family have been meat eaters all of my life. I grew up on it. Setting this small goal will be a good way for me to see if I can really last without meat and also I'm sure my intake of fruits and vegetables will go way up because I'll be looking for a way to feel full. This diet along with my exercising will also probably help me to continue on my weight loss goals as well.
I'll document about my meals and how I feel here. It should be quite interesting!
