Avoid Eating Carbs Before Bed

Just the other day I wrote a about a common fitness myth which was "Eating Food After 8pm Will Turn Into Fat." I wanted to add on another bit of information pertaining to eating late in the evenings, particularly in the hours before bed time. It is important to try not to eat carbohydrates right before bed.

The reason being that at night our bodies insulin sensitivity decreases. Thus, our bodies must release more insulin than it usually does to process the carbs you eat before bed. Higher insulin levels slow down fat-burning as well as slowing the release of growth hormone. Growth hormone is released during sleep and increases the bodies fat-burning ability.

If you're going to eat anything before bed, try not to eat three hours before bed time and stick to protein and/or vegetables.

This has been debunked as a myth for some time now.
