Are Your Drinks Really Diet?

Ketostix Reagent Strips for Urinalysis, Ketone Test, 50
When you're eating out do you ever wonder if the diet soda you've ordered is really diet? I don't drink soda so I've only wondered if the decaf coffees I've ordered were truly decaf.

There is no way of knowing if I had caffeine unless I've had my coffee an hour or two before bed and end up still awake at 3 am.

However, if you are really curious if the soft drink you've ordered is sugar free, I've just read a cool way of testing to find out.

Dallas Morning News:

Invest in urine test strips at the drugstore ($10 for 50) and carry them with you. The next time you order, sip and wonder, dab a strip into a splash of the drink and wait 30 seconds.

In a sugar-free drink (shown), the strip turns pink. If the strip turns purple, there's sugar.

Not a bad idea if you are really watching your sugar intake. The test strips seem to be inexpensive, handy, and a quick way to know for sure you get what you ordered.
