Trying Fitness says:

    All Natural Food - Riiiiight

I was browsing around some health sites and found the “16 Secrets the Restaurant Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know” article on MensHealth.com. They are all really interesting, however, I had no idea about the FDA and the “all natural” claim many food companies use to market their products:

Arby’s doesn’t want you to know:
That the FDA has no definition of “all natural.” Thus, chains like Arby’s can say they serve “100 percent all-natural chicken,” despite using artificial flavoring. Even worse, the “all-natural” smoothies at Arby’s may contain high-fructose corn syrup.

This makes it even more important to check the labels when you are shopping for healthy alternatives. A food product can have “all natural” slapped on its label and still contain ingredients like MSG and corn syrup.

What is also interesting about the article was the fact that the sit-down chain restaurants are often worse than the fast-food places that are usually given the most grief when it comes to nutrition. Most don’t offer nutritional data and most meals are higher in calories (not including the appetizers and drinks.)
