I definitely agree with working out with a buddy. I find adding a little friendly competition really ranks up the motivation!

Great tips! You have really dig deep down inside to find something that motivates you to continue to work out. It could be family, health reasons or just plain old vanity.

Great advice in this article. I would add one more. Focus on your health and medical wellness. Set goals for weight, as well as cholesterol, blood pressure and other vital stats. Keep track each time you have a physical and try to improve not only your "external" appearance, but your internal stats as well.

The two that I have to apply regularly are: Challenging myself, and mixing up my routines.

I've been working out for years, so I constantly am looking for new methods.

I hardly ever listen to music when I train, but I'll give that a try and see if it does anything useful.

Music does it for me. There's just something about working out to some good music that makes me feel like superman.

Great post, and great timing. I'm actually just getting back into a regular routine again after quite a long hiatus! But I do think you forgot one thing: making an appointment with yourself for exercise. Put it in your calendar, like it's just as important as a doctors' appointment. I've got two kids and it takes a lot of planning for me to break away. And it's so easy to make the old excuse of "not having time". Thanks for that post!!

Great tips! Number 3 is the one that I seem to struggle with the most. I have my routine that I do, which makes it easy to get caught in an exercise rut.
